To support the delivery of tailored, value-added investment solutions to clients our investment teams are organized by capability: Solutions & Multi-Asset, Real Assets, Active Fundamental Equity, Private Credit & Equity, Global Fixed Income, and Global Liquidity. Business operations provide centralized functions to support the investment teams. The AIP Hedge Fund Team constructs and manages portfolios of hedge funds on behalf of institutional and high net-worth clients through its various pooled vehicles (limited partnerships), customized portfolios and segregated accounts. The team currently manages $23.9 billion of hedge fund investments and is staffed with approximately 70 employees. It is based in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philadelphia), with additional offices in New York, London and Hong Kong. The Hedge Fund of Funds team is seeking an individual who will be responsible for sourcing and monitoring discretionary global macro, emerging markets, and sovereign fixed income relative value hedge fund managers. Other hedge fund strategies considered by the team include long/short equity, event-driven, and various arbitrage or relative value strategies. The candidate will report directly to the head of discretionary global macro, emerging markets, and sovereign fixed income relative value strategies. This position is located in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will play a key role in all phases of the investment process. Responsibilities Opportunity Identification and Evaluation: Support the investment process by identifying compelling hedge fund managers globally. Due diligence duties include conducting strategy research to assess the opportunity set, participating in onsite meetings to evaluate sources of return and risk, analyzing portfolio fit, and thoroughly documenting due diligence results. Investment Execution Prepare investment proposals and other materials required by the Investment Committee. Collaborate with other functional areas in coordinating the various operational aspects of hedge fund investing. Investment Monitoring Participate in and document quarterly (or more frequent) meetings with underlying investments. Continually assess the market environment and its impact on the risk reward of strategies. Review and analyze managers’ monthly performance, commentaries, and risk reports. Maintain active views on hedge fund investments and make portfolio recommendations. Maintain comprehensive manager universes to facilitate peer group analysis and strategy research. Participate in extensive strategy and manager reviews and prepare associated presentations for the Investment Committee. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and minimum three years of work experience in financial markets. Advanced degree in relevant discipline and/or CFA a plus. Strong analytical skills Proficiency in fixed income mathematics, derivatives strategy / valuation, and security analysis desirable. Genuine enthusiasm for financial markets, macroeconomics, and alternatives investing. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Outstanding work ethic, self-motivated with good interpersonal skills. Ability to travel on a regular basis, including overseas. Position may require approximately 20-25% travel.
