About the Opportunity
Our M&A Advisory practice is a nationally integrated team of high calibre, M&A led Advisors providing transaction-focused strategic advice to private clients, corporations, private equity funds and public market companies. With a focus on the mid-market space, we advise our clients on a wide range of corporate transactions including acquisitions, divestments, recapitalisations and capital raisings.
Our leading team is currently experiencing a significant period of growth and as a result, there is an opportunity for a motivated Senior Analyst to join our Melbourne team.
About the Role
This opportunity will see you working directly with market leading M&A specialists to support with the following:
Executing deals with a diverse range of clients including international and national corporations, emerging companies, private businesses and private equity firms, in a range of industry sectors including healthcare, consumer business, technology, manufacturing, etc.
Leading a broad and challenging range of transactions types in various trusted advisor roles - including acquisitions, mergers, divestments, capital raises and strategic advisory work
Managing the delivery of deal documents such as strategy papers, information communications' and management/business presentations
Leading the preparation of corporate valuations including comparable companies, precedent transactions and integrated operating models
Overall management of due diligence processes including responsibility for the data room and Q&A process
Liaising with key executives, shareholders, board members and other stakeholders
Collaborating with the team to support the end-to-end project management of transactions including direct liaison with vendors/bidders/boards and other deal stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you'll be a natural collaborator with previous transaction experience, either from a M&A boutique environment, a reputable professional services firm, an investment bank or an in-house M&A team.
You'll also be able to demonstrate:
2-4 years' experience in an M&A transaction environment or general corporate finance team with exposure to transactional activity
Experience running portions of buy-side processes (e.g. valuation, target screen and assessment, drafting investment papers etc.);
An ability to structure, draft and manage the finalisation of pitch books and other business development work to win prospective mandates;
Experience in training and mentoring junior analysts will be high regarded as will your natural commercial curiosity and interest to develop industry knowledge
MS Office skills and experience with research tools (S&P Capital IQ, etc.)
Completed, or progressing towards completion of a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. CA, CFA, MBA, Master of Applied Finance etc.)

Financial Advisory (FA) practice of Deloitte China provides strategic and financial advisory services to clients throughout all phases of the economic cycle. FA comprises several distinct but related global service lines whose shared principal objective is the creation and enhancement of shareholder and stakeholder value.
Valuation and Modelling Services guide and advise clients on valuation methodologies and provide valuation advisory services relating to business interests. These include intellectual property, intangible assets, common and preferred stock and other securities, partnership interests, employee stock option plans (ESOPs), private debt instruments, options, warrants, and other derivative products relevant to our clients.
Provide valuation analyses for tax, financial reporting or other regulatory, compliance or management planning requirements

Develops analytical models that can be visualized and interpreted convincingly to inform recommendations

Bachelor degree or above with major in Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Science, Financial Engineering is an advantage. Other degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration or related disciplines would also be considered
Professional qualification of HKICPA / CICPA / CFA / ASA / CBV / CPV or other equivalent overseas qualifications
At least 5 years' relevant work experience, including at least 2 years' valuation experience related to M&A or financial reporting.
Strong knowledge of treasury function and market risk
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese, including both technical and business report writing, good documentation and presentation skills
Strong leadership and project management capabilities
Strong business sense, analytical thinking, consultation and interpersonal skills, with high commitment to delivery excellence
Self-initiation & good team player
Willingness to work under pressure and travel

Infrastructure & Capital Projects - Senior Associate
Work in a project team
Create financial models/ assist in building complex financial models based on business issues or transactions being analyzed (eg: for financing, acquisition, valuation and other purposes) using MS Excel
Value projects based on net present value, internal rate of return and profitability index
Drafting reports and findings including the preparation of tables, exhibits, and charts
Communicate effectively to all levels of engagement management
Balance multiple engagements and responsibilities
Research and analyze industry and market data / issues
Participate at meetings with the clients/ for the projects
Perform ad hoc analysis utilizing Bloomberg and other databases
Assist to prepare proposals/ presentation materials and for pitching
Demonstrate an understanding of risk associated with engagements
Prepare internal documentation regarding client, working papers and engagement acceptance procedures
Strong academic credentials required, 3.0+ GPA
Ability to analyze companies from a financial, operational, and industry perspective
Experience with financial modeling development and review for at least 2-3 years
Excellent business diagnostic, analytical and logical skills
Proficient in using MS Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
Strong commitment and flexibility in working in a challenging professional environment
